Paul Douglas at his Vernissage at Carl Schurz Haus, Freiburg, Germany Paul Douglas was born in Los Angeles in 1951 and from his earliest years had keen artistic and creative instincts. He arrived in England in 1971 to study art and design and obtained both a BA Honours in graphics and membership of the International Society of Typographic Designers. Life in Europe so impressed and inspired Paul that he decided early on to make London his home. He consequently has lived continuously in the UK since 1971 and became a permanent resident in 1981 when practicing as a design consultant.

Paul has been working as a full time artist since the mid 1990’s and lives in the beautiful outer London borough of Richmond upon Thames, where he is an active member of the prestigious Richmond Art Society.

Paul’s work covers a wide range of styles and media with abstracts, cosmic, cubist and graphic inspired works being his specialities. He also greatly enjoys painting still lifes, avian and architectural oriented pictures. Mondrian, Kandinsky and Picasso are some of the early modernists for whom Paul has a great deal of admiration and his work is continually being evolved using various media including watercolours, oils, mixed media as well as 3D. Also Paul is always exploring more experimental projects which include a range of painted illuminated globes in various abstracted styles.

Oil on canvas, Laufenburg a la Douglas, on show at the Schloessle in Laufenburg, Germany Paul has been regularly exhibiting since 2000 in London and since 2004 in Germany as well. More about his actual exhibitions can be found under the heading: “Exhibitions”.

Paul now invites you to enjoy browsing through his website which has extensive photos of all his various types of work together with photos of all his exhibitions to date, together with detailed explanations behind each of his various types of compositions.
