Paul Douglas has been regularly exhibiting his work since 2000, where in London he has had several extensive one man shows in various venues including art galleries, hospitals and prestigious restaurants.
Among these one man shows was an exhibition at the prestigious Coningsby Gallery. Also in 2006, Paul had one of his works shown at the renown Victoria & Albert Museum. In addition, Paul has regular six monthly group exhibitions with his local art societies, including the respected Richmond Art Society in which he is also a committee member.
Since 2004 Paul has also been regularly exhibiting in Germany as well, where
to date he has had three major shows. Paul’s great friend and manageress, the English teacher Elisabeth Kreide, whom Paul met in Hamburg in 2002, has intoduced him to southern Germany and made all his exhibitions there possible by her wonderful organisational skills and tireless endeavours; www.englishfueralle.de. For each of these exhibitions, he has received very favourable reports and appraisals including one critic calling him: “A Master of Colour and Form”!
His first German exhibition took place in February, 2004 with parallel showings in Wehr/Baden at the Storchehus restaurant, which has a lovely gallery attached, and in nearby Hasel at the Kunstforum Erdmannshoehle. Also at this time he was the artist in residence at the Kunstforum.
Then in 2007-2008, Paul Douglas had a two month exhibition at the Carl Schurz Haus in Freiburg im Breisgau. Here, he received honorarium payments as an artist and the former director, Dr. Eva Manske very kindly organised funding from the German government which enabled both shipping a large number of his works over to Germany and covered fares and accommodation. As a thank you for their splendid efforts, Paul painted a special picture dedicated to the life of Carl Schurz and donated it to the institute.
Paul’s third exhibition in Germany which ran from April to October, 2008 took place at the Schloessle in Laufenburg/Baden (on the Swiss border), which is an idyllic, historic town in which art is highly regarded. This has been Paul’s longest, most successful and most viable exhibition to date.
